jdbgmgr.exe hoax |
This hoax usually comes to
your attention as an email forwarded to you from someone who has
received this warning from someone else.
The email usually takes on the following form:
"The objective of this e-mail is to warn all Hotmail users about a new
virus that is spreading by MSN Messenger. The name of this virus is
jdbgmgr.exe and it is sent automatically by the Messenger and by the
address book too. The virus is not detected by McAfee or Norton and it
stays quiet for 14 days before damaging the system...."
The email may even show a picture of a teddy bear, which when searched
for on the users machine, will confirm it exists.
Reality: The jdbgmgr.exe file is a legitimate Windows file, which gets
installed with windows.
